During the month of February the Mast General Store in Knoxville is highlighting ABR and our rescue and rehabilitation of bear cubs. On February 4th, three ABR volunteers decorated a window in the store, to tell the story of ABR and to display bear-related items. The window will remain throughout the month. In addition, donation jars for ABR are displayed at each register in the store, and Mast employees offer literature about our organization as well as the opportunity to support our rescue. On Saturday, February 28th, two of our educational volunteers will set up a table to showcase our successes and provide answers to bear questions.
Mast General Store dates back to 1883, when it was founded in Valle Crucis, NC. It expanded to various locations in NC and SC and came to Knoxville in 2006. All of the stores are active participants in their respective communities, and support nonprofits in the area.
ABR appreciatives the opportunity that Mast has provided to inform the public about Appalachian Bear Rescue and our work with orphaned and injured bear cubs.
