We told you that 2 more yearling cubs were coming to ABR today. They arrived this morning – 2 little female yearlings who displayed a lot of fiesty behavior. They are definitely wild little bears, and did not like the fact that the wildlife officers put them into a pen that restricted their movement. Our curator, Rick, said that they immediately started climbing up the side of the pen and scuffling in the straw (an unfamiliar part of the new environment). After a couple of hours, he went back to check on them, and found that they were somewhat settled and were eating fruit and drinking water that was provided. He reports that the two little bears appear to be in good condition, and should be ready for a wild release when they are “chubbier cubbies” and when the natural summer foods are available.
