Appalachian Bear Rescue strives to keep interaction with our furry residents at an absolute minimum to avoid any possibility of habituating them to humans. When it comes to a cub like Finnegan Bear, it had always been assumed that bottle feeding meant that contact with a curator was inevitable. This fact disturbed our head curator, and he set about devising a way to provide the bear milk replacement without physically holding the cub. His invention is truly remarkable, and certainly serves the purpose for which it was designed. Click here to see a video of the invention and how Finnegan reacted to it. We think Curator Coy deserves a medal for “invention of the year,” at least for bear cubs.
