Cubs in Wild Enclosures

We said we hoped to have photos of the cubs in Wild Enclosure #1 and Wild Enclosure #2, since they had all disappeared on the recent rainy day. As luck would have it, we have nice weather and the cubs have made their appearance.

First, though, we’ll revisit the Hartley House cubs.

Clover seems to be doing well. She’s not been observed limping, but the curators are taking it easy, not wanting to act hastily and say she is “all well” quite yet.
The same might be said for Aralia. This little cub surely does like to eat!

Now to the Wild Enclosures.

Hyperphagia has hit, and the cubs are foraging nonstop.
They have found that the barrier walls are good for many uses. The curators installed them to keep the cubs from pacing, and that has worked.
Here’s an example of their creativity. They play a game like “Whack-a-mole” only it’s whack a cub, under one of the barriers.
Meanwhile, a couple of the cubs in Wild Enclosure #2 engage in fisticuffs.

We can see that everyone is all right, and the cubs are behaving like cubs. Good bears!
