Hiding in the “jungle”
Ready or not, here I come!

The cubs are enjoying their days in the large pen, as these photos show.  They are foraging in the “jungle” for tasty foods, thrown over the fence by our curator, Lisa.  They like to play “cub games” with each other, and these games  help them to develop their ability to hide from perceived dangers.  Black bears generally avoid confrontation (with humans, for example) in favor of hiding in the foliage or running away.
