As hyperphagia continues, the eight cubs at ABR are continuing to grow fatter. We are happy to report that the four cubs in Wild Enclosure #4 (Prost, Cheers, Bourbon, and “new girl,” India) are compatible and on the way to being actual pals.
India is now an accepted member of the group.It’s apparent that weight has been gained – the arrow points to a seriously chubby belly!A morning greeting from a friend.Perhaps some fisticuffs is a good way to start the day.Then it’s time for a mid-morning nap.Suddenly, it seems that the cubs are looking less like babies and more like big bears.All together, now – the cubs of Wild Enclosure #4!Over in Enclosure #3, two of the cubs were sleeping late. Time to get busy working on our chubbification!
The napping and sleeping late fits right into the hyperphagia playbook. After gaining so much weight, and as the days grow shorter, bears feel the call of hibernation. The cubs are starting to feel it, too.
