A month in confinement is more than enough for a wild bear cub, and Myrtle Bear, had started showing that she wanted OUT!
Even though the curators had given her more toys and stuff to amuse her, they weren’t enough.
She stuck her face up to the air vent, to get the outdoor scent.
No point keeping her in, so Curator Tom got ready to move the carrier in place.
Curators Coy and Tom moved the HRH 4000 carrier in front of the gate.
Treats inside should act to lure her in.
Myrtle is curious. She knows something is going on.
She goes in the carrier, but exits immediately. This might go on all day!
Tom used the Cub Persuasion Tool to get Myrtle to enter the carrier.
Coy and Tom carry her out in the HRH 4000.
They took her to Acclimation Pen #3, and positioned the carrier by the gate.
She was so fast getting out!
At last, Myrtle was outside again!
No surprise – she raced to the nearest tree to climb!
Up she went, as high as she could!
Taco and the other T cubs were in another tree. They are scared of this new girl!
Now we will watch to see how they react in the next few days. Will they become friends? Will they get over their fears? What is next in this drama? Watch this space!
