Jeff Hunt (NPAC) – Wildlife connectivity along Interstate 40

Jeff Hunter, National Parks Conservation Association’s Asheville-based Program Manager, will discuss a project that he’s leading to improve wildlife connectivity along Interstate 40 in the Pigeon River Gorge.  Located just north of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the interstate creates a barrier to black bear movement between the park and high quality habitat on the north side of the highway, including the Harmon Den Bear Sanctuary. Hunter will discuss his organization’s collaborative efforts to reduce mortality and improve wildlife’s ability to cross this busy interstate. The program will feature an array of wildlife photos captured through camera trapping in the gorge. Join us for this inspiring and informative presentation
