No surprise that our Colton Bear likes his acorns. Acorns and other nuts (hard mast) are vital to bears during the fall, as they fatten up for their long winter’s nap. This photo was taken by a professional photographer. By using a long lens, she was able to make it seem that she was very close to the bear, but of course, she was not. You can see the piece of acorn shell that Colton spit out. Bears do eject the shells and eat only the nutmeat.
