Visiting Cubs

Aralia Bear is in the Hartley House, and the cubs in Wild Enclosure #1 are curious about a discovery they made. They discovered that the drainage flaps at the floor of Hartley House allow them to sniff out the bear inside, and also that the flaps move. Interesting discoveries!

Some of the cubs made their way over to Hartley House, to check on the new bear inside.
Dumplin’ stretches up and raises the drainage flap.
Another cub checks the next drainage flap.
The cub is curious. Who is in there?
The cub could only stand on tiptoe for so long and then dropped down.
Dumplin’ tries again. He is a bit taller, so can reach higher.
Dumplin’ is persistent. Hello in there!
Meanwhile, on the inside, Aralia is on her side of the drainage hole.
The flap lowers.
Aralia is curious, too. Who is visiting her?
That’s it for now, but the cubs will be back, for sure!

Bears are curious critters, and cubs are more curious than adult bears. This little drama that played out in front of the enclosure cam showed just how curious they are. They recognize other bears by scent, and want to know more. In person visits will come later.
