ABR admitted #425 – nicknamed Crockett Bear – on Friday, November 15! He is not quite ten months old, like the other twenty-eight cubs in residence, but is very small at just 11 pounds. He was rescued in Greene County, TN after being seen high in a tree for three days, with no adult bears seen in the area.
TWRA officers met Curator Jamie, who took the cub to UTCVM for his initial checkup. He was judged healthy, except for his low weight. What happened to his mother is unknown, as is the reason he was up in the tree for three days. His nickname is Crockett.
Crockett Bear looks younger due to his small size, but he was found to be healthy. He will have the usual deworming medication. For now, he is in Hartley House, next door to Rags and Scruffy.
