Scruffy and Rags, the severely malnourished siblings who arrived last month after their mother was killed by a vehicle, have responded extremely well to the bounty of good food offered by the ABR curators. Of course, they won’t be weighed again until their release, but it is estimated that Scruffy is in the 30-pound range, while the smaller Rags is in the 20-pound range. They weighed just 12 and 9 pounds on arrival!

Scruffy stretches to get the last lick of peanut butter and honey.

Curator Greg enters to clean the room, and the cubs hurry into the other room.

After washing the floor. Greg brought in new branches and cedar shavings. Then he scattered nuts for the cubs to forage. The curators are cutting back on their visits, providing more food but only once a day.

As usual, Scruffy enters first.

Rags comes in a bit later.

Scruffy starts foraging immediately. Rags goes into a corner to forage, By scattering the food, the curators give Rags the chance to get his share.

Meanwhile, Greg cleans in Room #2, hiding food all over, and leaving two bowls for later.

Curious and bold, Scruffy goes to see what is going on. Rags is content, eating in his corner.

But soon Rags goes to join his brother.

The cubs forage in the cedar shavings and stay to eat – “breakfast in bed.”

Scooby and Meadow, in Enclosure #1, are the same age, although it’s hard to believe.

After Curator Jamie lost his scoop the curators saw Scooby checking it out. They don’t know what he did with it.

Stay tuned to find out what happened to the missing scoop!
