As we promised, this is the report of Tots and her return to UTCVM for a recheck, to see if she is ready to meet the other cubs.
Tots had to be immobilized for the exam. This is always risky, especially for a cub. She actually had a brief seizure when the drug was introduced, but the vets were able to quickly stabilize her.
They were able to continue the exam. Her weight gain has been good. On April 20 she weighed 5.42 pounds; now she weighs 9.92 pounds.
Her mouth, where some of her baby teeth were extracted. looks good
It was disappointing to learn that her arm has not healed as hoped. The metal plate is in place, but the ends of the fracture are not coming together. The vets also noticed signs of infection, which means Tots needs another round of antibiotics.
The curators will give her a small bowl of Cubby Sauce with antibiotics two times a day, before she gets her regular food. In two weeks she will return once again to UTCVM, and we hope that she will have healed by then. Please keep your fingers crossed for Tots and her arm.
