On August 22nd, ABR welcomed Bear #321, nicknamed Indigo, rescued in Sevier County TN. We were told that there were two siblings who were being rescued and would arrive later that day. But those plans didn’t work out, and Bears #322 and #323 didn’t get to ABR until Monday the 24th. Bear #322 is nicknamed Juniper and #323 is nicknamed Lavender. Indigo is a male who weighed 33.6 pounds; Juniper, another male, weighed 33.4 pounds; and Lavender is a female who weighed 27 pounds. The cubs are about seven months old, like our other fourteen cubs, and while the curators can’t be 100% sure, they are pretty certain that the three are siblings, based on testimony from the folks in the neighborhood who spotted them and kept watch until TWRA arrived. The cubs are in good health, and are in separate quarters for a few days until they finish their deworming meds. Watch this space to see how they fare and how all the other bears are doing. It’s a busy year!
