Three Cubs in Enclosure #4

Prost, Cheers, and Bourbon Bear are doing well in Wild Enclosure #4. You may recall that Bourbon joined the two siblings after he had been observed being aggressive to Hops Bear in Enclosure #3, and Hops was losing fur as a result. So far there has been no problem with Bourbon’s interactions with the cubs in Enclosure #4.

Remembering how last year’s cubs destroyed the enclosure, we can’t help but notice how lush and green it is now.
Prost and Bourbon engage in fisticuffs, while Cheers forages.
Cheers finds food in the enclosure that was not provided by the curators. She is licking ants off a log! Yum!
Another food that is not curator-provided is leaves. The cubs particularly like these leaves, whatever they are.
All three cubs work on demolishing a stump that undoubtedly is full of tasty insects and grubs.

It is good that the cubs are able to find and eat these various natural foods in their enclosures. When they return to the wild, they will be foraging for these and other natural bear foods. No one will be providing their nutrition any longer, so we’re glad they are getting this practice now.
