Sleepy Cubs

We have mentioned that as it gets closer to winter and denning time, bears slow down their eating and prepare for hibernation by resting and sleeping more. The cubs are beginning to show the signs of slowing down now.

Porter and Stout Bear are snoozing in the brush pile in Wild Enclosure #1.
Bourbon came to the platform, possibly to stroll or to relax, but then . . .
. . . up the tree he went for a nap.
It was a foggy morning. Cosmo Bear showed that he was in need of rest by giving a big yawn.
Even the Swingy Ball was resting.
In the Hartley House, Bud Bear was looking through the cedar chips for a lost grape. Bud sleeps a lot, too, which is a good thing for an injured yearling.

As the days unfold, we will see all of our bears winding down and becoming more lethargic. This is in preparation for winter, which means their release and finding a den. Watch this space.
