During the months of October and November, several eastern Tennessee schools helped ABR by “Adopting-a-cub” and collecting acorns and money to feed our cubs.  We appreciate the teachers and students who took part in this project.  They collected over 1500 pounds of acorns and hickory nuts (we told you there was a good hard mast crop this year!) and over $650!  As you can see from the photos, our bears enjoyed the nuts.  This bounty will help them to gain the extra weight they need to make it through hibernation this winter.

We welcome the opportunity to educate children about ABR and bears, and will gladly repond to any requests from other schools that are interested in our Adopt-a-cub program.  Find out more on the ABR website .
