Playing Catch-up

If you are a regular follower of this blog, you probably have noticed that it’s been a few days since our last post – please accept our apologies. Today we’ll try to play catch-up by posting a couple of new items.

As we stated recently, it appears that hyperphagia has set in, and the cubs are foraging more than ever. Favorite pastimes like playing and wrestling don’t occupy them as much as eating.

Well, the Beary Triplets are a bit of an exception to that statement, as their wrestling seems to continue no matter what.

One Triplet peeks out from behind the “forbidden tree” that they are not supposed to climb. Note that the other two Bearys are wrestling.

That Triplet sits by the forbidden tree while siblings continue to wrestle.
The Triplet stands. Wrestling continues unabated in the underbrush.
The Triplet looks up at the tree, as if wishing to climb it.
The Triplet walks away from the tree. Wrestlers are still busy in the background.

Later, one of the Triplets stretches to see if it’s possible to reach that pesky sleeve.

Moving on, we check in at Wild Enclosure #2.

All six cubs are seen foraging.
Four of the cubs have moved on to forage elsewhere, leaving one to swim and one still foraging.

Jessamine returns to the tarp that she and other cubs worked on a few weeks ago.

Finally, we’ll look in at the Hartley House and see how Beignet Bear is doing.

Beignet receives a new stuffed bear companion. The first “Not Beignet” is in the laundry.
We will assume that by sitting on the new bear she is showing her approval.

Beignet has finished three of the four weeks in her mandated convalescence. She has done remarkably well, thanks to the creativity and cleverness of the curators. We hope that all of them can hold out for one more week!
