Today (April 20) ABR admitted our second Cub Of the Year! The staff at Flapjack’s Pancake Cabin, in Sevierville TN reported a little bear cub that they thought might have been hit by a car. Curators Cole and Reagan went to pick up the cub and transported him to UTCVM. Fortunately, the examination did not reveal any impact injuries. He was found to be in good health, and because of the high traffic and congestion in the area, he couldn’t be left to see if his mother returned, as is usually the practice. Therefore, the little cub, who is the same age as Thumper (about three months old) and weighs 7.2 pounds, went back to ABR where he will reside in The Cub Nursery while he takes the usual deworming medicine.

Flapjack Bear was described as “feisty!” We are sorry he lost his mama, and have no idea how he ended up in such a busy place, but we’ll do the best we can for the little guy.

To recap – ABR now is caring for 2 cubs and 4 yearling bears! Stay tuned.
