King B’s Routines

Our Louisiana yearling, #299 (Balthazar Bear) is definitely a creature of habit. Since he first was released into his Wild Enclosure he has followed a predictable pattern of behavior that includes where he sleeps, where he naps, and where he forages. So it was a shock when he was seen napping on the other side of the platform.

He has always snoozed next to the tree, but on the nearer side of the platform. Suddenly he was on the further side of the tree!
He climbed the tree, for a little exercise.
Settling down for more snoozing, this time he was back in his usual spot on the near side of the tree.
King B climbed down the tree to get some snacks.
He found some grapes! They were a treat!
A nap after eating – and he was in his usual place again.
When he stands up, we can see that his legs are getting longer. He has that yearling look.
He murdalized a sapling near his daybed.
Nighttime, and King B is in his usual spot on the platform.
Lying on his daybed, King B plays with a twig.
In the morning, King B could be seen still asleep on his daybed.

Our yearling shows that he is growing (did you notice his round tummy?) and that he does follow predictable routines during the day and night. He is thriving, and should be ready for release along with the two other LA cubs.
