In Enclosure #3

As you know, the cubs in Wild Enclosure #3 include Beignet and the three Beary Triplets. As we have seen, the Triplets’ favorite activity is wrestling, and Beignet frequently joins in. Take a look:

Two cubs wrestle at 4:25 in the morning! The other two, sensible cubs, are asleep.
Four hours later, two cubs wrestle. The other, sensible cubs are foraging. (No telling if it’s the same two who are sensible, though).

The curators were concerned that Beignet was doing quite a lot of pacing along the perimeter fence. Usually that behavior means the animal is getting stressed by captivity, so they tried a distraction.

Branches and logs were placed along the perimeter fence, to disrupt the path. They were fastened into the ground with u-shaped steel hoops.
The curious cubs checked out the branches and logs.
The four cubs sniffed the branches and logs.
Next, they tried to move the branches and logs, without success.

They couldn’t move them today, but tomorrow is another day.

Later, the four cubs napped in their daybed.
They foraged near the daybed.
It started to rain, and the cubs did what bears do when it rains – they climbed a tree.

It will be interesting to see if the four cubs do manage to move the branches and logs. We won’t bet against them!
