Hops, Barley, and Bourbon

We have a video today from the trail cam in Wild Enclosure #3. It shows the three cubs in their enclosure, eating the yummy fruits – apples, pears, and nectarines that were thrown out for them to find. They are big bears now and can eat the whole fruits. No more need to cut them up for our five-month-old cubs! There is a brief dash up a tree, prompted by the fact that another bear (#338, Cosmo) is out in an Acclimation Pen by the Hartley House. Why, you wonder, would another cub prompt the trio to climb the tree? Simply put, it’s their “good bear” behavior kicking in. When a strange bear’s scent appears, the instinct to climb to safety is strong. Click here to see the three boys in Wild Enclosure #3.
