We read an article, illustrated by a short video clip, about the changing weather in New Jersey bringing some bruins out of their dens early.  Although spring is not here yet, if you live in bear country you might want to get ready for the bears reappearing after their winter sleep.  If you are in the Southern Appalachians, where we are, you may have seen an occasional bear during the winter months.  But wherever you are, be assured that bears will come on the scene again soon.  And they will be hungry, so make sure that you do not have any food attractants (particularly bird feeders, garbage, greasy grills, and pet food dishes) around your home that will entice the bears and potentially get them in trouble.

This article mentions a possible “boom in bear cubs” in that part of the country, and we have been told by wildlife officers here that we, too, are likely to have an unusually large cub population due to the incredible hard mast (acorn) crop last fall.  So ABR may admit more orphaned cubs than usual.
