Experiment in Enclosure #3

Two enterprising cubs in Wild Enclosure #3 embarked (or happened upon) a scientific experiment about the physics of levers and fulcrums! They learned a great deal that will undoubtedly assist them in their future lives in the wild.

Lemon Drop was the one who discovered the principle, when she was successful in using the safety log as a lever in The Cubby Pool. Hops watched the experiment and was fascinated.
Whether on purpose or not, Lemon Drop successfully raised the cinderblock with the lever. The resultant noise ans splash was enough to cause Barley to make a hasty exit from the Drinking Tub.
Wanting to repeat the experiment, Lemon Drop is in the wrong place and can’t make it work. Hops will give it a try.
Hops gets on the log. He is not in the right place.
Hops is too far down on the log, and it spins.
Uh-oh! In he goes! We all know how Hops has felt about immersion in The Cubby Pool.
Nothing daunted, Hops tries again.

We aren’t sure how the experiment worked this time around, but later in the day, Hops was really swimming! At last!

Full immersion – Hops swims in the cubby broth in the Cubby Pool, among the floating apples.

So it seems like our reluctant swimmer is finally up to speed with the rest of the cubs. We’re betting that now that he’s tried it, he’ll find it a good activity for these hot summer days!
