Cub #310 is from LA!

Friday, June 12th brought ABR Bear #310, nicknamed Chicory Bear. A female cub-of-the-year from Louisiana, she made the trip in Bear Force One, thanks to Captain Tom Sabo, who flew Beignet and Boudreaux from LA to TN last year. Assistant Curator Eric Noseworthy accompanied Tom, and TWRA Sergeant David Sexton met them at the airport and brought the cub to ABR. As is usually true with a cub from another state, there were a lot of people involved with the rescue and transport.

Chicory Bear spent the night in The Hartley House and went to UT for her intake exam at the College of Veterinary Medicine on Saturday morning.

We will have more about Chicory Bear as well as the rest of the cubs in our next post. She looks a bit forlorn in this last photo, but that’s not surprising since she’s gone through a lot in the past day or two. The fact that she climbed up to the top of the “tree” is a sign that her mama bear taught her well during her first three months. We are glad that she has come to ABR where she will get excellent care.
