Busy in the Rain

Comments are off

Bears, including cubs,  don’t let a little rain deter them from their business, as we can see from these photos.

Piper is alert and ready to go.

Nessie is “making repairs” to the firehose trim on the resting platform (Her repairs = ripping it up.) Cubs don’t repair, they destroy!

The four cubs ran down to see if they could murdalize (destroy) the Springy Tree.

It was a big job, but they tried hard.

The big, industrial-sized spring sproings back every time.

It doesn’t take long for the cubs to get bored and give up the project. The Springy Tree is none the worse for wear. It may yet launch a cub into space!

The black shapes in the trees are cubs. Five in all, so a couple of the shapes are made up of two cubs.

Heather the Yearling surveys her kingdom. Compared to the cubs, Heather is a calm presence.

Nettles brought her food bowl into bed. Nothing like eating in bed on a rainy day!

However, when food is spilled in bed, it’s good to move to another spot.

Here comes room service (aka curator).

Nettles has a very good appetite! She is eating puppy chow, acorns, chestnuts, and pecans. The curators are hoping she’ll put on a few more pounds before she goes into a Wild Enclosure. She is definitely the smallest cub of all. Stay tuned and watch her grow!

Good News –

Last night it was announced that ABR was the winner of the Land Rover Defender 130 plus $25,000 in the contest sponsored by Land Rover Defender Service Awards, Chase, and Kong! It is an honor to receive this award, and will be a valuable piece of equipment for our bear rescue and bear care work. Thank you to all who were involved!
