Big Yearlings

Comments are off

The yearlings at ABR continue to grow larger. They probably are a good bit bigger than their counterparts in the wild. All the better to sustain them when they are released.

Exhibit A – Big Boudreaux, asleep on the platform.
Exhibit B – the lovely (and corpulent) Beignet.
All three of the yearlings in Wild Enclosure #4. Jessamine(background) is getting tall and leggy.
Beignet’s tummy drags on the ground when she lies on her side.
Sibling affection? Nose touching is a typical bear greeting.
Here they are, with appropriate labels for each.

The yearlings are really getting big. However, if they were in the wild and near adult bears, they would appear to be small, and people would call them “cubs.”
