Beary Triplets Go Home

Today’s post will show the workup procedure and finally the release of the mischievous Triplets. They are back in their home territory.

Hucklebeary was first up. Curators Janet and Ashley take stats.
His eyes are covered. Immobilized bears can’t blink so their eyes must be protected.
Curators David and Coy take measurements.
Hucklebeary’s hind foot.
Curators David and Ashley transfer Hucklebeary into the pen on the truck that will take the cubs to their home.
Hucklebeary in the transport carrier. A bear must be fully alert before the truck leaves the facility.
Here comes Bluebeary to the release staging area.
Curators Janet, David, Ashley, and Coy perform the workup of Bluebeary Bear.
Look at Bluebeary’s paws!
Bluebeary is in the transport pen, ready to go.
The third Triplet, Blackbeary, arrives at the release staging area.
Blackbeary was the smallest on arrival, but now he weighs 84 pounds!

All settled. Time for the Beary Triplets to leave ABR.
At the release site, two Triplets take off immediately.
Into the woods they go.
It doesn’t take long for the third Triplet to follow them.
Hurry, hurry!

Thus ends the saga of the Beary Triplets, who arrived in April weighing about 3 pounds each, and left weighing 77, 84, and 85 pounds! Quite a lot of growth in eight months, and don’t forget all the time they spent wrestling instead of eating! We wish the Triplets long, happy lives in the wild. Please stay away from humans and their food!
