Bear activity at back-country campsites in Great Smoky Mountains NP

We came across this story reported on Knoxville TV about several back-country campsites in the national park that have been closed due to bear activity.   Hikers are advised to use extreme caution in these areas.  Some trails, for example the Rough Fork Trail in Cataloochee Valley NC, are also closed for the same reason.  If you are planning a trip to the Smokies and want to go hiking, please check with the park information desk at one of the visitor centers as to the safety of your chosen hike.
