As you know, the curators have been preparing and refurbishing the Wild Enclosures, The first thing they did was to burn till, and till again. After some much-needed rain, many wriggling creatures appeared; This was, indeed, a banquet for the numerous wild critters who visit. For example:
A red-shouldered hawk looks for lunch.
Uh-oh! This squirrel might be lunch for the hawk or its kin.
Squirrels find nuts left by bears or buried last year by themselves.
A worm for a hermit thrush – yum!
Another worm aficionado is this robin.
And the blue jay has a worm appetizer.
There are several Carolina wrens who visit often. They are so cute and cheerful!
Today we reminisce about Little Trouble Bear, who arrived at ABR on June 21, 2022, weighing just 15.2 pounds and was released to the wild on January 12,2023 weighing a healthy 105 pounds.
