And Now There Are Four

Comments are off

After the recent releases of cubs from ABR (total of five released so far) our cub population is down to just four individuals.  Two of the female cubs, Viola and Piccola Bear, are from Kentucky.  The other two, male Bosco and female Dash are Tennessee cubs.

In order to get ready for their upcoming releases, Acclimation Pen gates are open, so that the cubs get used to going in to eat and going out again.  Bosco Bear has settled into an Acclimation Pen and seems content.  He is a laid back bear!  Viola, formerly in Wild Enclosure #4 with the rest of the Six pack, is now in Wild Enclosure #3 with Piccola and Dash.

Here is Viola Bear on a stump at night in her new enclosure.

Viola sits on a stump that almost looks too small for her.

Piccola visits the Cubby Pool.

Piccola and Dash Bear are wandering in and out of the Acclimation Pen.

Viola Bear is still outside the pen.

Viola forages in Wild Enclosure #3.

Viola climbs on one of the culvert dens. This is new territory for her.

We may not see these cubs in the Wild Enclosure again.  The curators are hoping to have them spend a few days in the Acclimation Pen before their releases.
