Volunteer
Appalachian Bear Rescue is always in need of volunteers. We seek those who want to help the overall mission of ABR; to rehabilitate orphaned and injured bears for release to the wild and to educate the public about black bears and the regionalthreats facing them.
As a volunteer-driven organization we need committed volunteers for various projects throughout the year. ABR is actively recruiting dedicated individuals who support the mission, but we must point out that volunteering does not offer access to the bears for the obvious reason that these bears must remain wild and with limited exposure to human presence. Furthermore, Tennessee law prohibits us from exhibiting the bears. Even though access to the bears is not possible, members and volunteers can take satisfaction in that they are actively working to assure the survival of orphaned black bear cubs.
ABR Volunteers enjoy the following activities:
*Staff ABR booths at conservation and public events.
*Assist at special events.
*Assist in distributing materials for ABR.
*Enjoy meeting new people and educating the public about appropriate human/bear interaction.
*Gain satisfaction from knowing that they are contributing to the welfare of the American Black Bear.
