Join us for our second annual Appalachian Bear Fest at the ABR Visitor and Education Center at Trillium Cove Shopping Village in Townsend, TN. The Bear Fest will be fun for the whole family. The festival will offer live music, wildlife booths, artists, a kids’ area, guided hikes and much more. Bring your kids, your beary good friends and your lawn chairs. You’ll want to stay awhile and enjoy all the Appalachian Bear Fest has to offer.
Back Country Hike with Joey Holt
This hike will start in the Tremont area. Rated as a moderate hike with a elevation gain of 600′ rise in the first 1 1/4 miles. Along the way participants will look for bear signs, talk about trail safety, and bear habitat. The hike will stop at a back country campsite (2.1 miles from the beginning) for lunch where everyone will learn about camping safe in bear country and the proper use of the food storage cable system. After lunch participants will return along the same trail for a total mileage of 4.2 miles round trip.
Hikers will need:
Good walking shoes/hiking boots,Rain Gear,extra socks,dress for weather, water, snacks/lunch.
Since this is in June and warmer temps. will be here participants will meet at 9:15 am at TC.
This hike is not for beginners or people with health problems.
